On July 12 the Nicolaysen Art Museum will host the NIC’s Summer Reception, a reception for new exhibits, including “Resource Management” featuring over two dozen works by the Wyoming artist, Robert Douglas Bryan.

“Resource Management” in particular highlights the changing natural environment and how those changes impact contemporary culture. The exhibit will be featured in the Bordewick and Durham Galleries and Mr. Bryan’s works will be on display through the end of 2024. His work has featured throughout Wyoming and in the 2019 documentary, Atomic Fracking in Wyoming: the Story of Project Wagon Wheel.

RDB is known for his expressive works which often feature elements from nature. Bumble bees are a frequent motif he explores with extreme closeups and geometrical breakdowns of honeycombs.

The Nic’s Summer Reception will also feature “Indigenous Art of the American Plains” and new inductions to the permanent collection including works from the collection of Mary Lou Morrison. Entry to the reception is $15 for NIC members and $20 for non members. For additional information, call the NIC at (307)235-5247 or visit their website thenic.org.
